Inchelium-Gifford Ferry

The Inchelium-Gifford Ferry -- also called the Gif -- is operated on Lake Roosevelt by the Colville Confederated Tribes on behalf of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The run connects Inchelium with State Route 25 in Stevens County and has been in operation since 1898.

During the months of April 1 to September 30 (Summer Hours) the ferry makes its first run at 6:30 a.m. (from the Inchelium side) and its last run at 9:45 p.m. (from the Gifford side). During the months beginning October 1 through March 30 the ferry makes its first run at 6:30 a.m. and its last run @ 8:45 p.m. (from the Gifford side). The ferry leaves the Inchelium side at the top and bottom of every hour and it leaves the Gifford side at 15 minutes past and 15 minutes to the hour.

The ferry closes annually (typically it coincides with School Spring Break) for a week for maintenance. It also closes periodically (typically during the spring) when water levels do not permit the ferry to operate. Our docks only allow the ferry to go to the elevation of 1232' above sea level. When water levels get below this level the ferry has to temporarily stop operations and resume when water levels permit.
