Festival season in Mason County arrives with the energy of spring and carries through the height of summer, bringing communities together to celebrate heritage, creativity, and the great outdoors. Tucked between the forested slopes of the Olympic Peninsula and the sparkling waters of Hood Canal, this region transforms into a lively hub of parades, markets, music, and family-friendly traditions. From small-town fairs rooted in logging history to high-energy sporting events and waterfront celebrations, Mason County’s festival lineup offers something for every kind of traveler.
The season kicks off with the Matlock Old Timers Historical Fair (May 2–3), a beloved community gathering that honors the area’s timber roots with draft horses, antique machinery, blacksmithing, live music, and hands-on activities. It’s followed by the Vintage Garden Mother's Day Market (May 8–10), where visitors can browse vintage finds, artisan goods, and garden-inspired gifts in a festive, welcoming setting.
Mid-May brings the Sawdust, Stumps & Seashells Arts Festival (May 16), blending local art with timber heritage through workshops, live performances, and community events. The momentum continues with the iconic Mason County Forest Festival (May 28–31), featuring a parade, carnival rides, logging shows, and live entertainment that draw crowds from across the region.

That same weekend, the Disc Golf Cascade Challenge (May 29–31) brings international attention as top professional disc golfers compete at Shelton Springs. In June, the quirky and uniquely local Fjordin Crossin & Paddle the Canal (June 13) celebrates Scandinavian tradition with a spirited crossing of Hood Canal. Later in the month, adrenaline takes center stage at MotoAmerica Superbikes at Ridge Motorsports Park (June 26–28), where high-speed racing thrills fans.
The season rounds out in July with Bluegrass from the Forest (July 10–12), a three-day celebration of bluegrass music featuring national acts, jam sessions, and workshops for all ages.
